I’m a Singer Songwriter from Garfield, New Jersey, I wanted to record some of my songs in April of 2019. I searched for studios in Nashville, TN and found Backwoods Recording Studio online.

I called talked with Tony Ray I call him TJ now, and we hit it off right from the start!

I planned a trip and spent 4 days in Nashville recording a total of 6 songs and they turned out better than I could have imagined.

Tony played on some of the tracks which added a lot to the songs. He also helped me arrange the songs and tighten up some of my lyrics.

I also had a wonderful time Tony Ray & Patty showing me around Nashville, and I bought a Martin Guitar OM Model from the world famous Gruhn Guitar Shop downtown. The guitar you see in this photo is that guitar.

Just imagine: the studio musicians couldn't have known my songs (one of them I had written myself and two others were by Swiss artists) and yet one take for rhythm and one take for lead and solo together were enough to achieve a top result. This is certainly thanks in large part to Tony, who knew how to arrange and prepare my songs so that everyone knew what to play and sing in order to give the songs what they needed.

Last but not least, the whole stay with Tony and Patty (and of course Jovie the dog) was also a matter of the heart! It was like being part of the family. Tony and Patty took a lot of time for us, e.g. to have dinner together and to show us sights such as Garth Brooks' house and Johnny Cash's grave.
